The West Coast, Pacific Rim of British Columbia is an environmental wonderland of which Tofino is the main centre. The ocean, beaches, I nlets, lakes, sub- temperate rainforest- biosphere and trails are well signed and can be accessed by all. Kind, friendly, genuine people willing to assist visitors. A variety of activities and accommodations to suit all budgets. Himwitsa Lodge is our favourite on the Sound. Ocean Outfitters provided excellent tours and the Common Grain bakery and Schooner's restaurant became faves. Be sure to visit Vickers Gallery.
Beautiful city with natural beauty all around. Perfect place to start exploring the wilderness of the beautiful British Columbia. City itself is clean and with everything available. Lots of cafes and restaurants to enjoy food from all over the world. There could be lot of rain but then you are at the edge of temperate rainforest :)
A fabulous centre of British Columbian activity, this city also seems to attract all nations, and has an eclectic mix of American, Asian, Latinos and Europeans buzzing around in a stunning location, nestled between two huge mountain ranges, hundreds of island and inlets, and of course the Pacific. on of my favourite cities on Earth!
Beautiful, clean city with efficient public transport and excellent restaurants serving fabulous food and Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, wines. All the Vancourverites we met were friendly and welcoming.
People are friendly and helpful. The staff in the hospitality industry and tourism are excellent at their jobs .... this is what makes Beautiful British Columbia truely Beautiful.
The ocean, listening to surf crashing on the shore, handicap friendly, to get to the beach, being able to have a camp fire on the beach. Tofino is very nice town rolls up the Carpet @ 5 or 6 pm, people are very friendly.. Like any tourist trap & being a long weekend, it is expensive and the fact is this is British Columbia, (B.C. -- "Bring Cash"!!!) there is too much TAXES. for some people their is no real night life that I could see. for other people there is NICE Beaches, Scenery, nature is gorgeous, lots of hiking, Just about everything you may want to do outdoors you could probably find it as commercial stated SUPER NATURE British Columbia. "Naturist beaches" ? maybe ? don't know.. Never even though about that. Favorite place the Ocean listening to & watching the surf. There is lots to do & see. Bring a good "Camera" with good lenses with zoom, I must shot over 500 pic's with an old cheap pocket Camera. To get around Tofino was easy either on foot, Bike or car. My two 10 & 12 yr old boys like to goof around in the Ocean surf, to climb up on the rocks near shore. We had a kitchenette so we ate in our suite. for me I had to drive every where as I mobility issues, for the rest of my family they wanted to walk everywhere. seen lots of people on bikes. WE like Mackenzie beach as it is permitted to have camp fires on this beach. Bit safe for my two boys as they don't know how to swim. Also this beach is a bit shelter. Not as much wave action, compared to Long Beach.
Historical Zealous is in a wild and remote location on a fjord and sports stunning mountainous scenery; greener than green. The scent of wood smoke wafts through the air. Be sure that you have good tires on your vehicle as the road in (gravel, mountainous, steep, winding) is known to be very hard on them and I don't think that there is anywhere to get a tire repaired in Zeballos. Check out the Estuary Trail right in town, and Atluck Lake and Little Huson Caves Regional Park on short side trips, on your way in or out of Zeballos. British Columbia magazine has a good article on Zeballos in it's archives. Most people visit Zeballos as a staging point for Kayaking or fishing or nature tours, or for work related reasons.
Kimberley is located in the East Kootenay in the southeast part of British Columbia. It is a jewel for those who love nature, outdoors sports and don't like to deal with too much traffic. I have been to Kimberley three times this year in the summer and look forward to experience Kimberley in their Winter/Ski season. In June, I was impressed with the green luscious landscape of the town and surroundings. Did some hiking at their Kimberley Nature Park, a over 800 hectares of forested land with lots of hiking, biking and other outdoors activities to enjoy. Also, even without being a golfer, it is easy to notice the area in and around Kimberley has the most golf courses pro-capita in the region :) About the locals: a truly genuine, heartfelt welcoming attitude I noticed in everyone I talked to! Coming from a big city lifestyle, it is refreshing to experience a friendly chat and a genuine smile in this quaint European style town with a walkable main street ( which to me, as a public administrator, speaks volumes of their smart city planning style). Also noticeable, it's the booming wave of new entrepreneurs in the the Platz ( the name of their main street, which features some new trendy cafes', restaurants, a great essential oil shop, healthfood store, etc.). The best part is the time it took me to get here. Just a bit over 2 hours from my my home in North Vancouver to Kimberley. The International Airport of the Rockies is just 15 minutes away and has 2 flights per day to and from Vancouver with Pacific Coastal Airline as well as flights to and from calgary with Air Canada. A great secret destination which is becoming less of a secret not only for Calgarians but for international visitors alike.
The capital of British Columbia has plenty of history and a lot see. A variety of attractions stem from its rich past and historical significance, such as museums, monuments, castles, and parliamentary buildings. Waterfront scenery is best taken in with a slow stroll. Good food can be found in small cafes and restaurants, all around the city streets.
At least 3 nights Vancouver , 1night wistler , 1 night Victoria (sidney) would be enough to see Vancouver. But to see British columbia you should visit beyond the Hope .
Port Alberni
The hosts Marla and Tom were amazing, very helpful and friendly. Homemade breakfast was delicious. The hotel and room were very clean. The whole place felt very comfy and cosy, you could easily stay here for a couple days and feel right at home. It's close to the city of Port Alberni and a good central location if you want to do some Vancouver Island day trips. This was easily our favourite place to stay during our 2 week British Columbia roadtrip!
The breakfast was beyond my expectations. The rooms are clean. The location is great. The stuff is great. You will not find a better hotel even remotely close to the price anywhere from Ontario to British Columbia I have done the drive several times and have stayed at this hotel twice now and will return anytime I’m in the area
Everything about this hotel was fantastic. The breakfast was some of the best I’ve had as “free breakfast “ offered by the hotels throughout my 21 days of travelling between Alberta and British Columbia. This facility is embellished by a wonderful landscaping.
The location was exactly what I needed for my previous and forthcoming meetings in South Vancouver & New Wetminster, British Columbia CANADA
Sun Peaks
The hotel was centrally located in the picturesque Sun Peaks resort in British Columbia. It was professionally run and we were in good hands.
Good place to stay with kids. It was perfect for our family. Good emplacement, near restaurants, grocery, amusement park and wineries.
View and location were amazing.
Lovely hotel and location. Our stay was short so did not use spa, pools etc. But we went for a wonderful walk through a nut farm and neighborhood with beautiful houses to admire! The lake was beautiful. Wish we had had a longer stay planned here! Room was comfortable and clean. Good coffee. Close to restaurants, starbucks and some stores. Only complaint is can't check in til 5pm and have to be out by 10 am. Most hotels 3 or 4 pm check in, and 11 am check out.
Would have been nice if we have WIFI in the room. Though I know we are on vacation but sometimes, we have to deal with works during our vacations. It is very inconvenient without it and the signal of our 5G is also unavailable in our room.
Location was excellent. Staff was super helpful and friendly
Although the hotel was fully booked, it didn't feel crowded at all, even in the pools. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed our interactions with them. Due to availability, we (two adults) ended up in a family room in the Heritage Building, which had two bedrooms - one queen bed and two twin beds. I didn't realize that the Heritage Building doesn't have AC, so we were worried that we'd be too warm, but the hotel provided fans for the room in addition to the ceiling fans and we were comfortable despite the hot temperatures outside. The pools are awesome, of course! With 5 to choose from, we found that each had a different temperature and we could move between them easily. We also appreciated that there is an adult only pool and that the rest of the pools are adult only after 10 PM. Nothing against kids. This seems to be a great place for families! Although there were some adults being rowdy, we were able to easily move away from them. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!
What an amazing place. We booked this last minute owing to a change in our plans. The staff were all polite and courteous. The location was a dream. The on-site facilities were ideal. The quality of food and drink from both on-site catering companies was superb. The cod and salmon tacos...simply devine.
We are a party of 4 and took the upper bungalow with a double bed and a sofa double bed. Even if it was at the back not seafront it still had a fabulous view.
The room and view exceeded my expectations
smooth check in and check out. Very polite and friendly staff. Lovely lodges and accommodations. Location Location Location. Easy walk along the Tonquin Trail from the Lodge to Tofino. Very good Salmon Dinner on the Friday night and Crab dinner on the Saturday night.
We loved that we were close to the beach, it was just a short walk for coffee and tidepools but also sunset and walks.
Staff provided each room with a bag of homemade Christmas cookies, hand delivered on Christmas eve. Lovely touch.
The beds were great the rooms I had was updated the owners were updating more rooms the staff was very friendly
